Rational
Southeast Asia is one the most vulnerable regions to climate change due to its geography, high concentration of people and economic activities in coastal and other high-risk areas, and the key role of agriculture and other natural resource-dependent livelihoods, especially in rural communities.
The population in ASEAN countries is vulnerable to rising sea levels, high deforestation rates, biodiversity losses, climate-induced extreme weather events and overexploitation of natural resources. 224.2 million youths represent about 34% of the ASEAN population and are set to inherit the consequences of today’s climate and environmental inaction or wrong actions by decision-makers.
